Types of facelifts
The surgery is planned on the basis of the division of the face into the following areas:
1. Forehead lift or upper third face lift. This area includes the forehead and eyebrows. These structures will be raised when there are horizontal wrinkles on the forehead or drooping eyebrows, synonymous with a fatigued look in the eyes.
2. Middle third face lift. In this area we find the cheekbones. As a result of gravity, the facial tissues sag, leading to a loss of volume and projection of the cheekbones, along with the appearance of furrows. In these situations, the facial musculature is lifted to its original position, as well as the removal of excess skin in the lateral facial area.
3. Lower third facelift. This is the area of the jaw line. The loss of the jaw line is one of the circumstances that spoils and ages the facial appearance the most. Over the years, tissue accumulates in the anterior part of the jaw, causing the appearance of what are known as jowls and marionette lines, giving the face an image that conveys sadness. In this situation, lifting of the facial musculature and liposuction of the cervical fat and jowls will restore the jaw contour.
4. Cervical lift. It is in the cervical area where most fat accumulates. It is also accompanied by the loss of elasticity of the platysma muscle of the neck and its anterior displacement. This leads to the loss of the cervical angle. In these cases, lateral tension is applied to the above mentioned muscle and the inframandibular fat is liposuctioned to restore the original cervical angle.
Results
Results
The overall result is not immediate after the facelift. The decrease in swelling is progressive and the final result is obtained after three to six months. Your appearance will gradually improve over time.

After facelift surgery, a small tube or drain behind the ears may be kept in place for a day to drain any fluid that may possibly accumulate. This drainage is rarely used, since a mesh is almost always applied to your skin to prevent this. This surgery does not involve considerable discomfort. If some occurs, it will be alleviated with prescribed medication. Do not be surprised by the swollen, bruised appearance in the first few days; in a few weeks you will look normal. Most of the stitches will be removed five days after the surgery.
