Male Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is an increase or decrease in breast tissue in boys or men, caused by an imbalance of the oestrogen and testosterone hormones. It can affect both breasts or just one breast, or even unevenly.

If glandular excess is the primary cause of breast augmentation, it must be removed with a scalpel. This procedure can be performed alone or with liposuction. In a normal treatment, the incision is made in an inconspicuous area, such as the rim of the areola, removing excess glandular tissue, fat and excess skin. In more severe cases, removal of excess tissue may involve larger incisions and scarring. In the case of liposuction to remove excess fat, the cannula will usually be inserted through existing incisions.
