What does this surgery consist of?
As a general rule, breast augmentation is performed through an incision in the inframammary fold, which is the ideal procedure for aesthetics and safety. Areola incisions are reserved for patients who need elevation or some adjustment in the size of their areola.
A pocket is created between the mammary gland and the pectoral muscle, or underneath it, where the implant is placed. It is then sutured and bandaged. No drainage is inserted. A bandage will be applied and this will be changed 48 hours after the surgery, replacing it with a non-wired bra, which will be worn for a month.
Two types of prostheses are used, round and anatomical. The use of one or the other all depends on the breast shape we want to achieve. Hence the importance of knowing the patient’s wishes.
